How to Make Your Brow Tint Last Longer: 7 Aftercare Tips

You have just had your brows tinted and they look absolutely perfect. Defined, full, and beautifully shaped. But how long will it last? With the right aftercare, a brow tint can last up to 4 to 6 weeks. Here are our seven top tips to help yours go the distance.

1. Keep Them Dry for the First 24 Hours

Water is the enemy of a fresh brow tint. Avoid washing your face directly over the brows, sweating heavily, or swimming for at least 24 hours after your treatment. This gives the tint time to fully set into the hair.

2. Avoid Oil Based Products

Oil breaks down tint faster than almost anything else. Switch to water based cleansers and avoid applying oily serums or moisturisers directly over the brow area for the first few days.

3. Be Gentle When Cleansing

Scrubbing the brow area will fade your tint quickly. Use gentle, circular motions and avoid exfoliating that part of your face during the first two weeks.

4. Skip the SPF on Your Brows

Sun exposure fades tint, but ironically some SPF products can also speed up fading due to their chemical composition. Try to keep sunscreen off the brows themselves, and wear a hat when you are in direct sun.

5. Avoid Steam Rooms and Saunas

Heat and steam open the hair cuticle and cause tint to lift out faster. Hold off on steam rooms, saunas, and very hot baths for the first week.

6. Brush Them Daily

Use a clean spoolie to brush your brows into shape each morning. This keeps them looking neat and prevents stray hairs from making your tint look patchy.

7. Book Your Next Appointment at the Right Time

Most clients find their tint starts to fade between 4 and 5 weeks. Do not wait until it is fully gone. Book your infill slightly before that point to keep a consistent look.
